Recently the HARI Clinic in the Rotunda Hospital have been referring women to the practice and we are delighted to be given the opportunity to work with these women to boost their chances of success with IVF/ICSI...Research has shown that acupuncture can significantly boost your fertility - the acupuncture we practise works by stimulating your body's natural ability to heal itself. This means that hormone levels are balanced, blood circulation is improved and healthy maturation of sperm and eggs is stimulated.

'Having spent 18 months trying to have our second child my husband and I decided that given our respective ages we couldn't afford to wait and it was time to seek professional help. We attended the HARI unit in Dublin's Rotunda hospital and after multiple tests, laparoscopies etc we were told that there was no clinical reason that they could find that would prevent us from conceiving. The Consultant recommended that I try acupuncture as I had a history of endometriosis and while he had cleared it out with the laparoscopy there was no permanent clinical treatment option available.

I started treatment with Declan at the beginning of 2011 and while I was initially quite cynical about alternative forms of medicines I soon found that I was starting to feel better in myself. The physical treatment had an impact but I also think that the fact that Declan took the time to listen to me and to really try to understand what was happening helped immeasurably.

The acupuncture revealed that my lower abdomen (where my ovaries etc were located) was cooler in temperature than my chest or upper stomach. This made total sense to me given that I was a regular hot water bottle user!!

In March 2012, we started on the IVF programme and I also attended Declan every week. I felt that we had to give ourselves every possible chance of making it work and that by taking a holistic approach to the challenge we faced we would optimise the probability of a positive outcome.

I am delighted to report that the treatment worked and we now have a beautiful baby girl! One can never know the impact that acupuncture had on the process but the one thing that I can say conclusively is that I now have an even body temperature and that can only be down to my sessions with Declan. I am eternally grateful to him and the staff of the Rotunda for helping us to have our new baby'.
